Aurora using the Block Editor

Starting in late March 2025, the University of Connecticut will start offering new sites with the WordPress Block Editor. The Block Editor lets you build custom layouts per page using predefined block types.

Current sites can continue using the Classic Editor, if you are interested in using the Block Editor you will need to submit an Aurora WordPress Account request using a clone of your current site. We will run a conversion tool that will covert most of the site. You will need to review the site and make changes as needed.

At first, the Block Editor may seem confusing especially if you have used the old classic editor. To build a good foundation with Block Editor watch this video:

The Block Editor has 3 key areas: An inserter panel for adding blocks, a content editor that holds the blocks, and a sidebar panel for configuring block settings.

To exit full screen editor, click on the W logo in the upper left. This brings you back to the Dashboard view.
